Iran-US Conflicts hits Kenya’s Flower Exports

Kenyan flower exports declined by over 50% due to flight disruptions and increased freight costs linked to the Iran-US conflict.
Daily exports fell from 450,000 stems to 150,000 stems resulting in massive losses and threatening the livelihood of thousands of workers.
Air freigth rates to Europe doubled to $5 per kg rendering shipments unprofitable.
The Kenya Flower Council is urging the Kenyan Governemnt to secure direct cargo flights to European markets to bypass the disrupted Midle East routes.
